Host-only Network for Firewall Assignment

Summary

  • Information necessary to set up the environment for the firewall assignment

Video

NOTE: There are two ways to setup for this assignment. The first requires you to use/create three VMs (an Ubuntu server, other Linux, and a Windows computer). This is demonstrated in the first video below.

The second method requires two VMs (Ubuntu server and another Linux), and then uses your host Windows computer instead of running Windows in a VM). This is demonstrated in the second video below.

The third video demonstrates how to setup logging. Note about your ‘log’ files. I can tell whether your firewall rules will correctly generate a log file.  If you give me a log file, and I can clearly see that your log rules are implemented correctly, I will count off even more. Big time.

You should watch ALL of the videos before starting your setup!
